The automotive industry’s IATF 16949:2016 standard was published on 1st October 2016 by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) and it replaces ISO/TS 16949, one of the most widely used international standards for quality management within the sector.
IATF 16949:2016 standard replaces ISO/TS 16949:2009, and no audits can be conducted to ISO/TS 16949:2009 after 1st October 2017. All organizations must have completed their transition to IATF 16949:2016 by 14th September 2018.
IATF 16949:2016 is an innovative, strongly customer-focused standard which incorporates common automotive customer-specific requirements. Its development was further shaped by the feedback of certification bodies, auditors, suppliers as well as original equipment manufacturers. IATF 16949:2016 is not a stand-alone quality management standard, but is implemented as a supplement to and in conjunction with ISO 9001:2015.
