John Crane’s Baton Rouge Service center recognized for achievements in managing its environmental and health and safety impacts.
On October 18 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, US Congressman Bill Cassidy joined Andrew Smith, President of Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance Inc., to present John Crane’s ISO 14001 and OSHAS 18001 certificates during a ceremony celebrating the company’s achievements in managing its environmental and health and safety impacts. As part of an ongoing Smiths corporate initiative, John Crane’s Baton Rouge Service center worked on both certifications for over 12 months.
“ISO 14001 helps us take a closer look at our environmental footprint, and we are committed to maintaining an environmentally friendly facility. Limiting our use of chemicals, controlling disposal of different types of waste, and improving the quality of our work environment are all part of the 14001 emphasis,” said Joe Centofanti, John Crane Southeast Business Manager. He added, “OHSAS 18001 is the basis for our safety program, and risk appraisal and risk management are a critical part of the successful operation of our business. Both certification processes help make it clear to us what it takes to maintain a world class service center.”
Established some 90 years ago, John Crane, Inc. designs and manufactures seals and associated products mainly for the oil & gas, chemical, pharmaceutical, pulp & paper and mining sectors, and LRQA provides a combination of ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certification across multiple John Crane sites.
