02/08/2010
Lloyd's Register RMA, Inc. sponsored the EUEC with over 2,000 experts from every major electric utility represented including environmental business leaders, corporate executives, NGOs and government policymakers from around the world.
The EUEC is one of the USA’s largest Energy & Environmental Conferences. Held Feb 1-3 in Phoenix, AZ, Lloyd's Register RMA, Inc. sponsored the event with over 2,000 experts from every major electric utility represented including environmental business leaders, corporate executives, NGOs and government policymakers from around the world.
During the conference, RMA’s Dr. Ivor John delivered a presentation on Supply Chain Carbon Accounting and the Electric Power Sector (EPS) Protocol (launched in December 2009 by the Climate Registry). The RMA team worked with The Climate Registry to help develop the EPS protocol, and the EUEC provided the perfect forum in which to promote RMA’s contributions to the development of the standard as well as RMA’s ability to verify electric power organizations that are required to report their greenhouse gas emissions.
Ivor’s presentation provided an overview of the EPS Protocol, and emphasized the protocol’s unique ability to help create carbon intensity metrics. Ivor also discussed how these metrics can be used by utilities to provide immediate value to utility customers for supply chain carbon accounting.
