Originally certified by LRQA in November 1998, Van Leeuwen has become one of the first organizations to be certified against the recently revised International Quality Management System (QMS) standard, ISO 9001:2015, by LRQA in the Netherlands. This significant achievement was a double celebration for the group who also became one of the first organizations in continental Europe to be awarded a certificate against the standard.
Eric Veraart, Manager of Corporate Supply Chain & QA at Van Leeuwen, spoke of their achievement; "As a leading distributor and specialist in steel pipes and pipe applications, complying with market relevant standards is a priority for us as a business. We continually strive to improve our product offerings and our services to better meet the changing needs of our clients. The effort we have made to meet the new requirements of ISO 9001:2015 and obtain certification, underlines the importance that we attach to this.”
Van Leeuwen began working to incorporate the new and revised areas of ISO 9001:2015 within their QMS at an early stage which allowed the group to undertake their transitional assessment during October 2015. Speaking of the award to Van Leeuwen, Paul Bokdam, Sales Director for Central Europe said, “Van Leeuwen went to work with this new standard at a very early stage. Their success shows that the new and revised sections of the standard can be integrated into an existing QMS quickly.”
