LRQA ISO Standards Update: AS9100, ISO/TS16949, FSSC 22000

Following the September 2015 final publications of ISO 9001:2015 (quality management) and ISO 14001:2015 (environmental management), other popular industry and ISO standards are still under revision, including AS9100 (aerospace quality management), ISO/TS 16949 (automotive quality management), ISO 50001 (energy management) and FSSC 22000 (food safety management).

The six stage process for updating many industry and ISO standards is designed to allow stakeholders including technical experts, regulatory bodies and industry, shape the future direction of the standard and includes:

  1. Proposal stage
  2. Preparatory stage
  3. Committee stage
  4. Enquiry stage
  5. Approval stage
  6. Publication stage

Upcoming Publication Dates

Based on the current information provided by the ISO Technical and Project Committees, some of the key dates include:
  • October 2016 - AS 9100:2016 (aerospace) publication expected
  • October 2016 - FSSC 22000 v4 (food safety management) publication expected
  • December 2016 - ISO/TS 16949:2016 (automotive) publication expected
  • June 2017 - ISO/DIS 50001 (energy management) expected
  • November 2017 - Latest publication date of ISO 45001:2017 (occupational health and safety standard)
  • September 2018 - Transition deadline for ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, AS 9100:2016 and ISO/TS 16949:2016
