Lloyd’s Register won three industry awards at the International Quality and Productivity Center’s (IQPC) 10th International Process Excellence Summit on April 22, 2009 in London. The awards recognize projects that demonstrate best practices for strategy and implementation of business transformation and process excellence initiatives.

Estelle Clark, Lloyd’s Register Group Business Assurance Director said, “We launched our Business Assurance Programme in April 2008 to drive the execution of our new five year strategy, linking business performance measurement with the strategic goals. We also set out to deliver business process improvement projects by using a structured approach to problem solving and solution implementation.

“In a very short space of time, we built and developed our internal team and expertise and the initial improvement projects we launched were demonstrating tangible process improvements. These awards recognize the hard work that the teams have put in, and enable us to celebrate publicly the achievements and improvements making the lives of our clients and employees easier.”

Lloyd’s Register won in three categories:

  • best process excellence start up programme

  • best process improvement project in service and transaction

  • best project delivered in under 90 days.

It was also shortlisted as a finalist in a fourth category, best project contributing to innovation.

Clark continued, “To have achieved this level of international recognition for Lloyd’s Register within such a short space of time is very significant but we are not going to rest on our laurels. Our immediate priorities are to ensure that for our 250th anniversary in 2010 the Lloyd’s Register name is synonymous with quality and business assurance. We will continue to prioritize improvement activities on the critical business processes that will make sure Lloyd’s Register is the best health to succeed for another 250 years.”
