Published in 2006, the BRC Consumer Products (BRCCP) standard sets out a set of requirements to help manufacturers and assembly packaging companies produce safe and legal products. The standard covers the majority of non-food consumer and household products, including toys, greeting cards, DIY items, electrical items, kitchen ware, textiles and non-prescription pharmaceuticals. All products are grouped into four categories, depending on the risk they impose to the consumer, each with its own defined assessment requirements.
What are the Benefits of BRCCP Certification?
First and foremost, certification to BRCCP helps in satisfying the legal requirements of to demonstrate ‘due diligence’ as required by the European General Safety Directive 2001/95/EC. It also supports consistency of production for sector specific product requirements such as the Low Voltage Directive and the Toy Safety Directive and helps manufacturers meet Good Manufacturing Practice requirements.
BRCCP Certification also offers consumers the added confidence the products they buy meet relevant legislative and safety requirements.
